Food Match-3 Launched

A single-player iPad game I developed in my spare time. My wife loves match-3 games, so I started with a match-3, and since food is adorable, I went with a food theme. Development plus assembling ...

Private Notes released

My first personal app, Private Notes, is now live on the App Store. From the first version submission to approval, including one rejection along the way, it took 10 days in total. Private Notes is a password-protected memo app I built for my own needs at work and in daily life. Back when I was a kid, my teacher taught me what Chairman Mao once said: “A good memory is no match for a worn-out pen.” That line has stayed with me ever since, and over the years I’ve put it into practice — if it’s worth remembering, I write it down. Now we’re in the information age, and I’m a heavy user of electronic devices. Going out without my phone cuts my HP and my mood in half. My important information — website accounts, security questions — all lives in my phone’s notes app, carried with me everywhere. Even my bank card details, my phone number’s PUK code, the serial numbers and MAC addresses of all my devices — all of it depends on my phone to remember. But phones are easy for other people to grab and play with. With everything stored on the phone, private data is easy for others to see, so a lot of the time I don’t dare write it down at all…

Kingdom Wars Battle Demo

The two short videos below are a battle demo of Kingdom Wars, a game built by three people. Technically there's no problem, and the core features are done, but the art assets aren't ready, so the buildings, unit types, and hit animations are all pretty sparse, and the map was drawn on the fly too. Being a front-end dev with no artist is just brutal, you know!

Pure AS3 calendar control for Flash

Recently I was working on Flash and needed a calendar control, but Flash’s built-in component library doesn’t include a DateChooser for AS3, and searching around turned up nothing ready-made either, so I wrote one myself for AS3. (The rendered UI is based on com.thomas.DatePicker.DatePicker.) Sharing it with anyone else who needs one for Flash development.

Two little games I wrote last month

A puzzle game made by Tomorrow Angel Studio together with Little Sky for Ciwong Technology (www.ciwong.com). The UI and animations were done by Little Sky of Tomorrow Angel Studio; I wrote the program and the website integration. 1. Counting Blocks The shape in the Flash movie is built from several small blocks. Use your spatial imagination — count how many small blocks the shape is made of in total. Left-click the number buttons “1~9” to enter your answer; if you get it right, you earn the corresponding score. Demo link http://www.mousebomb.org/portfolio_demo/jiyi_mofang/mofang.html Screenshots

New version of the website released in 2009

The new site went into design and development on July 27 this year, mostly in my spare time. And now the construction is finally done — it’s shipped. http://www.mousebomb.org/ the homepage now redirects to the new version — go take a look. The new version really did drag on. Since the 2007 version I hadn’t updated my personal site for ages. In fact, before building this one I designed two other versions — one during Spring Festival 2008, and another in late September 2008. One of them was going to have a star-travel theme. On the first visit a login box would pop up saying “Commander, welcome back” (just like Tiberium Wars). Once inside, you’d see a galaxy where visitors piloted a spaceship to explore planets, could send out cosmic radio waves to chat, and so on.
