Domain email is a personalized mail service from Tencent. If you own a domain, a few simple settings are all it takes to create mailboxes that use your domain as the email suffix. It comes with the following features: a custom account name and email logo of your choosing, up to 10 mailboxes under the same domain, and group functionality.
With the domain email service you can swap your QQ Mail address for one under your own domain. For example, 405572555@qq.com corresponds to mousebomb@flashj.cn. Today I gave it a try and set up mousebomb@flashj.cn along with domain mailboxes for a few friends. Process: 1. Log into your QQ Mail, go to [Settings]-[Experience Lab]-[Domain Email] and choose to activate it now. 2. Once activated, click “Try it now” to enter the domain email management page. You’ll need to verify and configure your domain. 3. Follow the prompts to upload the text file QQ Mail provides to your site, or go to your domain management platform and set up a CNAME record. 4. As prompted, add an MX record in your domain management platform — leave the host name blank and set the target host to mxdomain.qq.com. 5. Then come back to QQ Mail and click “Settings complete, submit for verification”, and you’re activated. After activation you still need to create an admin account: go to member management, where you’ll see prompts, fill in the info and you’re done. Then you can create a few more users, for example I set up a gfox@flashj.cn for gfox. Under basic info you can upload an image as the Logo. The supported image formats are jpg and gif, and the recommended image size is 190 pixels long by 40 pixels wide.
QQ Mail itself is tied to QQ, so you get a notification as soon as mail arrives, and the user experience is first-class (I’d say it’s even better than Gmail). Now that it supports your own domain too, how could I not be on board?
[09.09.19 update] Got an email saying Tencent has updated the domain email: 1. Supports accessing a personalized login page at mail.yourdomain.com. 2. Supports editing some of the admin info (the admin account can’t be changed yet, but support is coming later). 3. Domain email accounts can serve as the primary display account for QQ. 4. Others: fixed the display issue with custom LOGOs; member account phone numbers are no longer a required field; added more prompts during setup, etc.
